I Caught a Geck!!!

When I got to Townsville, one of the first and most exciting things I found out was that there were gecko's everywhere!! And I decided that before I left, no matter what, I was going to catch one. The other night, I caught one in the bathroom and I was pumped! I caught him in the bathroom, then took him into the lounge to show Megan, and I had her take pictures of him. And of course, I am obligated to name him, soooo I decided on Ricky :)

Things have not been too eventful lately, because for the past week and half it has been rainy, cloudy, and gloomy out. Which kind of sucks, but hey you can't control the weather. Due to that, I have unfortunately spent a lot of time reading for classes and watching movies. Yesterday, I was walking back from class on the sidewalk and this big truck drove by, spraying water up at me, completely drenching half of my body. It was wonderful..Today, it finally started to clear up and I really hope it stays that way for a while! Wet season should be done soon, and then there will be NO rain! I can't wait for that.

Today, it is now 3 weeks until my birthday anddd till my Mom is here!! :) It is getting so close now, it is weeks and not months. Tomorrow, it is St. Patty's Day! Woo!! I wasn't sure if that was something that would be big here or not, but from what I have heard it is, so should be a good time. I am wearing my green dress haha. Then on Friday I am taking the ferry over to Magnetic Island for the day, and that night there is a "Full Moon Party." Which from what I have gathered, a big party on the Island. I have heard Maggie Island is real nice though, so I am looking forward to spending a day there!

Next weekend, 4 of my friends and I are going on a trip called the Hidden Valley Tour. This is what it includes:
-world heritage listed rainforest
-crystal creek
-paluma rainforest village
-platypus tour
-mt fox Volcano Crater
-walk to the base of wallaman falls

and this is where we will be staying: http://www.hiddenvalleycabins.com.au/

I am pretty stoked for the trip, mainly because i get to see a platypus!! haha. Don't worry, I will be sure to take plenty pictures through out the weekend for you all :)

So, I have been really stressed lately.. I have figured out that it is REALLY hard to get a job here. You do not fill out an application like we do at home. You just bring a resume in. And they are big on "trial runs" which I am not used to. I am put at a disadvantage here though because: 1. I am from another country, so things are different. 2. I am leaving in a few months. and 3. I do not have reliable transportation. So it is rough and I have been calling places, and dropping my resume off, and trying to find a place that will work well with the buses and times. But I am doing what I can  :)

I have not taken too many pictures lately since, like I said above, I have not been doing too much lately. Here is what I have though, enjoy!

I did not have any idea that this was and Army town before I came here, but it is. One of the two mountains right behind my dorms is Army owned. Nobody like the Army guys around here either, they refer to them as "AJ's", meaning Army Jerk or Army jock, whichever.
Yes, this toad is dead. They are EVERYWHERE. And in this country, they are considered "pests" and you are supposed to kill them(humanely as possible of course) I've heard the nicest way is to put them in the freezer?? Orrrr others say they take a golf club to them. Interesting.. They startle you at night though..haha

This is a fountain in Anzac park, which is really close to the strand. It lights up different colors :)

Clouds. All I have been seeing lately......

Where I spend most of my life :) haha  ok, I may be exaggerating a little.

Little spot of hope in the sky!!

Rainnnn...

Megan and I

My geck I caught in the bathroom. I was so excited!! I named him Ricky. He was a real tiny one. They are soo fast!

Ricky again :)

I thought this was picture worthy.. and a good display of our insane rain we get ha

Down the road.
